Alice Yip Wai Ping Biography

Alice has been learning the piano since she was a child, and she has shown extraordinary talent and has won many successes since she was a child. After obtaining a Composition diploma from the Hong Kong International Institute of Music, she achieved the highest piano diploma FTCL of the Trinity College of Music in 2008 and studied postgraduate diploma in piano performance at the top music school in Europe of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under Professor Richard MicMahon from 2011 to 2013. She also studied with other world-class professors, including Frances Angell, Dr. Silvije Vidovic, Maria Narodytska.

Alice has extensive performance and ensemble experience and has participated in performances in mainland China, Hong Kong and many places in Europe. In 2012, she performed the virtuoso repertoire, Liszt's "La Campanella", at the Euro Art Music Festival concert held in Germany. In the same year, she also went to Chetham International Summer School For Pianists in the UK, where she participated in Concert performances under the guidance guided of the famous teacher Joanna MacGregor . In 2017, she held her first solo recital for charity in the Hong Kong Parsons Music Hall with great acclaim. Her recital repertoire included Beethoven's "Sonata in A-flat Major (Op.110)", Chopin's Etude (Op. 10) No.1, Liszt "La Campanella" and Liszt "Spanish Rhapsody". At the same year, she went to Budapest for the 2nd International Danube Concerto Festival as a piano soloist and collaborated with the renowned Danube Symphony Orchestra to perform Saint-Saëns' Piano Concerto No.2. In 2018, she went to Beijing to take part in the Beijing International Music Festival and Academy under the guidance of the famous teacher Jerome Lowenthal. And participated in the performance of Brahms' "Sonata for Clarinet and Piano No. 1 in F Minor".

In recent years, she has won numerous awards in different international music competitions. In 2020, she won the Third Prize in the New York Golden Classical International Music Competition. She won the Third Prize in the Rome International Music Master Competition and won the silver medal in the International Music Master Competition in 2021. In the same year, she also won the Gold Award in the Modern Category, the Silver Award in the Open Category, the Silver Award in the Classical Period Group, and the Bronze Award in the Sonata Group at Global Genius Music Competition in the United Kingdom. In 2022, she was selected one of the top 25 potential musicians to participate in the international music career development plan and develop performance and competition careers with world-class music teams at the Tiziano Rossetti International Music Competition in Switzerland. Subsequently, she won a special award at the Euterpe Music Awards Competition in Germany.

She has been engaging in music education for more than 20 years. She was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award by the Hong Kong Asian Piano Competition in 2011 and the Best Teacher Award by the 2020 International Youth Music Competition. She has taught numerous outstanding students. Under her dedicated cultivation, they have won numerous awards in different competitions and examinations. One of her students at the age of 10 even passed the LTCL, a second-level piano diploma at Trinity College of Music in the UK. Her outstanding achievements of other students include: the Third Prize in the 16th Hong Kong Asian Piano Open Competition in 2011, the performance level ATCL of Trinity College of Music in 2015, the champion of the 2020 International Youth Music Competition, Gold Award of the 8th Hong Kong International Youth Performing Arts Festival, the First Runner-up of International Youth Literary and Art Competition in 2021 and the Silver Award of Hong Kong Academic Music Competition Open Group , etc,.
Recently, she has won the first prize of the Senior Category at PianoHouse Competition, which she was invited to perform at the New York Carnegie Hall.
Currently, she is a professional pianist and chamber music performer. She also teaches piano performance, music theory, accompanist, Sight-singing and harmony.
